Good Friends

Liz and Katie have been friends now for about 8 years. Katie travels all over the world with her family's ministry. (www.champions-forever.com) She's a very busy young woman. Liz has school and work and is busy as well.

Greg and I are also friends with the family. With our busy lives, it's a rare occasion when we can get our schedules to sync but we had the chance to spend a week together recently at a retreat "up north". We all had a wonderful time. It had been far too long since we'd all gotten together with Katie and her family. Even though it had been a few years, it seemed like only yesterday since we'd last spent time together. Well, except for the fact that Bruce and Diane... (mom and dad) have added twins, Tori and Tessa into the mix!

That's the thing about good friends, it doesn't really matter how much time passes between visits. The friendship just picks up right where it left off. That's exactly how it goes each time we get together with Katie and her family.

I expect Katie and Liz will share that special bond through out their lives and I'm so thankful. A special friendship like theirs is truly a gift.

I did take more than one picture all weekend.. but here is one of my favorites.

I can't help it

Anyone who knows me, knows I love my little boys. I have had this ferret obsession since Greg bought Gus, my first fuzzy, nearly 10 years ago. (A purchase he has slightly regretted ever since!) I was completely smitten with little Gus, he followed me around like a puppy. He loved to play in the snow, go on walks and was great for snuggling, too.

Since Gus died, I have managed to keep ours a ferret-friendly home. After Gus, came Zoe. She was the sweetest little girl. Zoe was a sickly little thing and needed company so along came Scrat, then Moose and let's not forget Hobbes! One ferret is an adventure, four is chaos! Each has had their own distinct personality, which has been so fun to see. Some have had "special needs" but all of them have been a complete joy! ~By the way... anyone who thinks God doesn't have a sense of humor has never had a ferret.

These days, we share our home with Ollie (top photo) and JoJo (bottom photo). These two are quite a pair. JoJo is outgoing, Ollie is more hesitant. Both can get really silly and love to chase each other and play with anything that crinkles or has a tunnel they can run thru. But, upon someone entering the kitchen, playtime is over. Because the only thing they love more than chasing each other around the house is their treats! Their favorite you ask? Why dried Mango, of course! This is the look I get from the two of them EVERY time I enter the kitchen. Now how do I say "no" to those faces?
